Introduction

Holy Spirit has highlighted Wisconsin’s waters many times. He makes it clear that our lakes, rivers, and underground aquifers are critical to the destiny of our state.  Water will become a much more precious commodity; other states will try to buy and re-route our water in the future. God wants His people to govern Wisconsin’s waterways and its rich agricultural land by being in positions of authority over the economic and transportation systems.

I Cor. 15 declares that the natural comes first, then the spiritual. Chuck Pierce and Dutch Sheets spoke of spiritual water in Wisconsin: “When God’s river starts to flow, it will undo the religious spirit. The ruling spirit over Wisconsin is intellectualism. Intellect stops the free flow of revelation. The River frees revelation.”

Additionally, Wisconsin carries a governmental mantle. This state has historically established many national “firsts”, such as the first public union, workmen’s compensation, unemployment Insurance, and collective bargaining laws. These are a few of many laws that started in Wisconsin and are now in all 50 states. Primarily through Governor Scott Walker and Representative Paul Ryan, Wisconsin is currently a voice to the nation of fiscal responsibility within government.

Wisconsin Week of Prayer

January 7-8, Monday & Tuesday: Business/Economy

Prayer Points:
•Repent for any greed or dependence you have apart from God regarding finances: your income, savings, investments, and giving.
•Repent for any selfish arrogance, controlling political agendas, and greed on behalf of leaders in our state.
•Repent for any mishandling of our state’s resources which lead to passing on debt or poverty to our next generations.
•Ask the Lord to expose corruption and evil in leadership and the economy.
•Ask the Lord to discipline and correct us quickly, so that we will continue to turn sharply and quickly to financial responsibility.
•May Wisconsin’s unions operate according to God’s order.
•Pray that Kingdom businesses will flourish to display the glory of God and help transfer wealth from the ungodly to the godly.
•Pray that business owners will build with integrity and creativity, so that new plans and strategies can bring employment, particularly in northern Wisconsin.

January 9-10, Wednesday & Thursday: Government

(Wisconsin’s 2013-14 legislative session will commence on January 7, 2013.)

Prayer Points:
•Pray for every governmental official, local, county, and state that “the spirit of the LORD shall rest upon him, the spirit of wisdom and understanding, the spirit of counsel and might, the spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the LORD.”  (Isa 11:2)
•Pray that our elected officials stand with Governor Walker, making decisions based on fiscal responsibility, the sanctity of life, and the preservation of constitutional rights.
•May our elected officials seek and receive Godly wisdom to heal our economy and effectively steward our resources.
•May our leaders stand against abortion and for Biblical marriage and religious liberty.
•Declare that anarchy, defiant arrogance, and intimidating force are paralyzed in Jesus’ Name.
•Ask God to expose terrorists and plans of terror and to guide our military and law enforcement personnel leaders.

January 9-10, Friday & Saturday: Family/Marriage

Prayer Points:
•May the U. S. Supreme Court uphold the Defense of Marriage Act, defining marriage as between a man and a woman. Same-sex couples are not eligible for federal benefits in states where marriage has been redefined.
•Repent for electing two openly-gay officials to represent Wisconsin in the U. S. Senate and House of Representatives.
•Thank God for the election of 33 candidates who will uphold the sanctity of life, protect our Constitutional freedoms, and help families become stronger and independent of government.
•Pray that Wisconsin’s families will relate according to Biblical values and be restored to spiritual and emotional health.
•Ask God to position godly teachers in our elementary, secondary, and post-secondary schools, and to remove those who direct children away from Jesus Christ.
•Pray that Planned Parenthood of Wisconsin would lose its lawsuit against the “SB 306” law that requires women to have in-person consultation with a physician before receiving an abortion pill and prohibits “telemed” chemical abortions.

January 11, Sunday: Ekklesia (church)

Prayer Points:
•Repent on behalf of church leaders and all believers for immorality, pride, intellectualism, independence, competition, and selfish ambition.
•Ask God to grant godly sorrow for these sins, causing holy fear of the Lord, so that we humble ourselves, join hearts and ministries, and labor together.
•Pray that the church truly becomes a house of prayer for all nations and understands the times we are in.
•Pray for the Lord of the Harvest to send laborers (Matt.9:37-38).
•Repent for failing to exercise our delegated spiritual authority and civil rights to protect our religious liberties.
•Pray that God issues His righteous judgment against the Madison based anti-Christian Freedom From Religion Foundation (FFRF).
•Pray that many will stand against FFRF without compromise, including prosecution of this aggressive bully of Christianity throughout the nation.
•May thousands sign Wisconsin Family Action’s Religious Freedom Amendment petition asking that our state constitution be amended to include strong religious freedom language.

Top State Issues

Collective Bargaining Law
In September 2012, a county judge issued a ruling that overturned part of the highly-contested collective-bargaining law. While the ruling is appealed, the attorney general is working to keep the law enforced. The Wisconsin Education Association initiated a separate suit challenging the constitutionality of the collective-bargaining law. Public-sector unions are pressing to revise their contracts before a higher court can potentially reinstate the legislation.

Voter Identification
A law requiring voters to present identification was passed to protect against voter fraud and increase citizens’ confidence in the results of our elections. This law was contested prior to the November 2012 elections and continues to be contested.

Wisconsin Court Upholds Domestic Partner Registry
Although Wisconsin has a constitutional amendment that specifically protects marriage, a state appeals court ruled that Wisconsin’s domestic partnership registry is constitutional. The decision, released December 21, 2012, marks a major victory for the state’s largest gay rights group. The Alliance Defending Freedom, a legal ministry representing Wisconsin Family Action members, plans to appeal the decision to the Wisconsin Supreme Court.

Freedom From Religion Foundation
Freedom From Religion Foundation (FFRF), located in Madison, WI, is the nation’s largest association of atheists, agnostics and skeptics with over 18,000 members. They aggressively initiate lawsuits against public expressions of Christianity across the country, including the National Day of Prayer in 2010. They have removed Ten Commandments monuments and crosses from public land, ending 51 years of Bible instruction in public schools, and halting prayer at public schools, institutions, and universities.

Agricultural Groundwater
The Wisconsin Supreme Court granted the Department of Natural Resources broad-based authority to regulate existing withdrawals of groundwater and consider future water quantity issues. As the DNR considers how to exercise these powers, agriculture will be impacted. Groundwater used for crops and livestock is being weighed against quantity goals.
