Introduction

Kentucky Week of Prayer May 14 to May 20, 2012

You can access an abbreviated prayer guide for the Kentucky Primary by clicking here.

Dear Praying People of Kentucky,

We cannot pray for Kentucky fully without being reminded of these prophetic words that were released in 2004 at the “Run With the Horses” 50 State Tour Conference, coordinated by Linda Whitaker (Sowing to the Nations, Kentucky Triumphant Reserve).

Let’s be encouraged, and fervent in prayer, and press in to the promises of God.  As we pray, let us proclaim and contend for these prophetic words, until we see them birthed.

We have seen the fulfillment of some of these words in part, but as we pray in faith and unity, God WILL bring every one of these prophecies to FULNESS.

Please pay attention to the prophecies that reveal the significance of Kentucky to our nation.

KENTUCKY PROPHECIES

“You are called to be a ‘WATCHMAN STATE’ and it has to do with the anointing of the watchman and the serpent. However, it is for more than just this state. It is for the nation! Through this watchman anointing He is going to show you how to take cities and communities. You’re going to erase century old strongholds. You will go to places where blood has defiled the land and false covenants have been made. You will see God erase that thing, and through the power of His spirit, you will see the land transformed.” (Dutch Sheets)

“You are literally going to become the ‘HEARING STATE’ because you must move into a new dimension of the prophetic where you receive greater revelation and operate in a new level of the Spirit of wisdom.”(Dutch Sheets)

“God is going to restore the prophetic breath of Kentucky and you will restore the breath of the nation. It will be done by a blast of the wind of God and it represents the ‘PROPHETIC ANOINTING’.” (Barbara Yoder)

“Kentucky is coming into order now because we need this state for the WAR of the nation. Kentucky will ride the warhorse and the God of War will ride from Kentucky. There will be a warring spirit that will literally speak to the entire nation. Kentucky is on the verge of the biggest change, for God is loosing the horses, the runners, and the riders in Kentucky, and they will ride and run through this nation once again.” (Barbara Yoder)

“For there shall break out a spirit of deliverance in this state that shall cause freedom to manifest in the entire nation. For I am dropping a ‘MANTLE of DELIVERANCE’ in this state,” and the Lord said, “Think not it strange that it should happen here, for from this state came one through whom freedom was bought for the African American.” And the Lord said, “I am getting ready to do it again.”” (Barbara Yoder)

“There is coming an anointing of WAR and of WORSHIP to Kentucky. This new level of war will produce a breakthrough and release which will revolutionize this state. I hear the Lord say, “It will create a ‘Great Awakening’ which will be both greater and different than the Cane Ridge revival BECAUSE I always do more and take it to another level”.” (Dutch Sheets)

“I am changing the horizon line over this Nation and I’m starting here in Kentucky. There will be a new model that comes forth.” (Chuck Pierce)

“From Kentucky to DC! Now, I don’t know that it means, but it will be. Amen.” (Chuck Pierce)

“I heard the Lord say that I am returning a right mantle of war to the White House from this state and vindication.”(Barbara Yoder)

“Sound is so important. It is very important that we express in the earth realm what God is expressing in heaven. You’ll never unlock Kentucky unless you bring in Kentucky sound, the sound that comes from Kentucky and how God redeems it in the earth and sends it out across the land.” (Chuck Pierce)

“Kentucky has 120 counties, so we will just call Kentucky our Upper Room state!” (Chuck Pierce)

“There will be an outcry to arise in this state, from its government, that takes a stand against the laws that will be attempted to be changed. Even when the PLEDGE of this nation is brought up for change, there will come an outcry and a resistance in Kentucky that rises up. All eyes of the nation will begin to see and a voice out of Kentucky will be heard throughout the land. It will cause a remnant from every state to rise up and say, ‘We’re also saying what Kentucky is saying’!” (Chuck Pierce)

“Watch the gate, the gate of victory mindset is opening. The gate of vindication mindset is about to open and the church is going to move into a new season of enacting Psalm 149. They will vindicate righteousness and there will be justice rendered in favor of the saints.”(Jim Goll)

Kentucky Week of Prayer

Monday Business/Economy

We are so thankful to God that the unemployment rate has dropped for three months in a row, and for the first time in over a year is below nine percent, at 8.6 percent.

Let us pray that the unemployment rate will continue to decrease, and those looking for work will be able to find jobs and provide for their families.

Pray for the state budget to be balanced wisely and prudently.

Pray that Kentuckians will honor God with their finances, so we can live under the blessing of God.

Pray for the people of Kentucky to turn to God as Jehovah Jireh, the God who sees ahead and stores up provision in the future to meet our present needs now.  Let us thank God for supplying all of our needs.

Pray that God will give us the power to get wealth through His provision of jobs, drawing industries and corporations to Kentucky that will employ many people, prospering those businesses—both small and large—that we already have, and through creative entrepreneurship of aspiring men and women to market new products, or begin new businesses.

Call forth Josephs to rise up in Kentucky that would bring healing to the economy through God-given means.

Pray against the expansion of gambling in our state, and for our government leaders, especially our governor, to realize that gambling is not the answer to bring prosperity to Kentucky, and will open up doors to greater oppression, evil and sin.

Pray for moral strength for our leaders to stand strong and oppose economic solutions which are humanistic and based in self-sufficiency.

Declare that gambling in Kentucky will come to an end!

Pray for God’s wisdom to give our leaders righteous solutions to the problems we face with our economy, as a state.

Proclaim the following scriptures over Kentucky’s Business and Economy:

1 KINGS 3:9 ‘Give thy servant an understanding mind to govern thy people, that I may discern between good and evil;... (v 9)

JOSHUA 1:8 “This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate in it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success.

DEUTERONOMY 8:18 “And you shall remember the Lord your God, for it is He who gives you power to get wealth, that He may establish His covenant which He swore to your fathers, as it is this day.

DEUTERONOMY 7:13 “And He will love you and bless you and multiply you; He will also bless the fruit of your womb and the fruit of your land, your grain and your new wine and your oil, the increase of your cattle and the offspring of your flock, in the land of which He swore to your fathers to give you.

GENESIS 26:12 Then Isaac sowed in that land, and reaped in the same year a hundredfold; and the Lord blessed him.

Tuesday – Business/Economy

One of the prophetic words for our state is that “there is gold in them their hills”.

Pray that God will reveal all the hidden reservoirs of resources and wealth in Kentucky, and for godly business men and women to have wisdom to know how to obtain, market, and utilize them for our good and God’s glory.

Kentucky is a Giver State. Pray that these hidden resources would be used not only to bless Kentucky, but to bless our nation as well.

Pray that God will protect these resources, so that others will not come into Kentucky to exploit and steal what God has provided for their own personal gain.

Pray for every business leader to make wise, fiscally responsible decisions that will honor God and do the greatest good for the most people.

Pray for business leaders and government leaders to seek God for divine wisdom and knowledge and understanding.

Proclaim the following scriptures over Kentucky’s Business and Economy:

DEUTERONOMY 8:9 “a land in which you will eat bread without scarcity, in which you will lack nothing; a land whose stones are iron and out of whose hills you can dig copper.

2 PETER 1:3 …”as His divine power has given to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of Him who called us by glory and virtue

DEUTERONOMY 8:18 “And you shall remember the Lord your God, for it is He who gives you power to get wealth, that He may establish His covenant which He swore to your fathers, as it is this day.

Wednesday – Government/Elections

Kentucky’s Primary Elections will be on Tuesday, May 22nd.

Pray for God to establish leaders of integrity and character in every position at the State and Federal levels, men and women who will honor God and truly seek to put Him first in all they do.

Pray for God to remove those in leadership who are corrupt and ungodly.

Pray for the Kentucky legislature to create and pass laws that would reflect the righteousness of the Lord, and be aligned with His Word.

Pray for the judicial system of Kentucky to judge according to biblical principles and worldview rather than popular opinion or liberal mindsets.

Pray that God will grant to all Kentuckians a willingness to get involved in the upcoming elections, resisting complacency and passivity. Let each one know the value of his or her vote, and let each one exercise their privilege with diligence and faith.

Pray for the voters to have great discernment to know truth from error as they cast their ballots, to see if what a candidate says actually matches up with what he/she does or believes.

Pray that God will grant a spirit of truthfulness in the elections on the part of all media. Grant a spirit of fairness and honesty in the news reports, and give discernment and wisdom to citizens as they seek information from these sources.

Pray for fairness and justice in the balloting procedures as our citizens vote in the upcoming Primary May 22nd, and in the General Election this November.

Pray that the voting procedure be just and equitable.

Proclaim the following scriptures over Government and Elections:

DANIEL 2:20-21 Blessed be the name of God for ever and ever: for wisdom and might are His: and he changes the times and the seasons: He removes kings, and sets up kings…”

PROVERBS 8:15-16 “By Me kings reign, and princes decree justice. By Me princes rule, and nobles, even all the judges of the earth.”

PROVERBS 12:22 The LORD detests lying lips, but he delights in men who are truthful.

AMOS 6:1 Woe to you who are complacent in Zion, and to you who feel secure on Mount Samaria, you notable men of the foremost nation, to whom the people of Israel come!

ISAIAH 58:2 Yet they seek Me daily, and delight to know My ways, as a nation that did righteousness, and one who did not forget the ordinance of their God. They ask of Me the ordinances of justice; they take delight in drawing near to God.

PSALM 89:14 Justice and judgment are the foundation of Your throne; mercy and truth shall go before Your face.

ISAIAH 9:7 There is no end to the increase of His government and of peace on the throne of David, and on His kingdom, to order it, and to sustain it with justice and with righteousness, from now and forever. The zeal of Jehovah of Hosts will do this.

Thursday – Government/Elections

Kentucky has a closed primary.  This means that only voters registered with a given party can vote in the primary. Parties may have the option to invite unaffiliated voters to participate. Typically, however, independent voters are left out of the process entirely unless they choose to sacrifice their freedom of association for the opportunity to have their say in who represents them.

In the General Election in the Fall, registered voters can vote for anyone, regardless of party.

For a voter registration guide, or to find out where you go to vote, or for all other question regarding voting in the Kentucky primary on May 22, or the General Election in November. Please click here and here for more information.

To access a copy of the primary ballot in each county, you can go to this website.

In the Kentucky House of Representatives, pray for pro-life leaders to be elected, to replace those that continue to oppose pro-life legislation in our state (see Top State Issues for more details).

Prayer Points:

Pray that the people will cry out to God as never before, and fast and pray for this election.

Pray that God will cause people to move out of complacency and for an unprecedented number to turn out to vote.

Pray for the Church to wake up and become a voice to stir up and wake up others to vote for leaders who will truly represent the values we hold dear.

Pray that we will elect godly leaders who will strongly stand for life, reaffirming our constitutional amendment protecting the sanctity of marriage between one man and one woman, and will continue to stand against expanded gambling.

Pray for God to bring righteous people who fear the Lord to lead our state and our nation into the future.

Pray that God will establish godly leaders who glorify Him as they lead, and let their tenure be as welcome as the light of morning at sunrise and like the brightness after rain that brings green grass to the earth.

Pray for godly, good leaders who will bring joy to those they lead. Pray that God will not allow any wicked persons to gain public office in this fall’s elections, but only those who will honor Him.

Proclaim the following scriptures over Government and Elections:

II SAMUEL 23:3-4 The God of Israel spoke, the Rock of Israel said to me: ‘When one rules over men in righteousness, when he rules in the fear of God, 4 he is like the light of morning at sunrise on a cloudless morning, like the brightness after rain that brings the grass from the earth.’

PROVERBS 29:2 When the righteous rule, the people rejoice; when the wicked rule, the people groan.

DANIEL 2:20-21 Blessed be the name of God for ever and ever: for wisdom and might are His: and he changes the times and the seasons: He removes kings, and sets up kings…”

ISAIAH 9:7 There is no end to the increase of His government and of peace on the throne of David, and on His kingdom, to order it, and to sustain it with justice and with righteousness, from now and forever. The zeal of Jehovah of Hosts will do this.

Friday - Marriage & Family

Pray for restoration of covenant marriage in Kentucky, so that we will no longer rank 8th in the nation for divorce.  Pray that the generational curse of divorce will be broken, and the younger generations will begin to see long term, forever, covenant marriage modeled with two parent families.

Pray for every pastor to join with many others who have covenanted to only marry couples who choose to go through pre-marital counseling, so that marriage will not be taken lightly.

Pray for supernatural restoration and healing of marriages that are on the brink of divorce, that they will humble themselves and seek help before it is too late.

Declare the reconciliation and love of Christ to encompass all families in Kentucky.

Pray for those who are in broken and abusive homes to know the healing and saving nature of Christ.

Pray for fathers and mothers to seek the Lord’s help to love their children, protect them, and nurture them in the fear and admonition of the Lord.

Pray that our children will awaken to the reality of God, have a healthy fear of God, develop a godly character, love obedience, experience God’s favor, grow up knowing the Bible well, and recognize God’s voice.

Pray for parents to take primary responsibility for educating their children, to counteract the secular humanism being taught in most public schools, teaching them to discern the truth from the Word of God.

Pray for a decrease of pornography addiction and purchase that rob the innocence of children and destroy families.

Pray for our military families in Kentucky to have strong, stable marriages, and to seek support from the body of Christ to help them when their spouses are deployed overseas.

Proclaim the Following Scriptures Over Marriages and Families
:
Genesis 2:24 Therefore a man shall leave his father and his mother and hold fast to his wife, and they shall become one flesh.

Exodus 20:12 Honor your father and mother. Then you will live a long, full life in the land the Lord your God is giving you.

Joshua 24:15 … Choose today whom you will serve…But as for me and my family, we will serve the Lord.

Psalm 103:17 But from everlasting to everlasting the LORD’s love is with those who fear Him, and His righteousness with their children’s children.

Ephesians 6:4 Fathers, do not provoke your children to anger by the way you treat them. Rather, bring them up with the discipline and instruction that comes from the Lord.

Psalms 34:11 Come, my children, listen to me; I will teach you the fear of the LORD.

Psalms 127:3 Sons are a heritage from the LORD, children a reward from him. 4 Like arrows in the hands of a warrior are sons born in one’s youth. 5 Blessed is the man whose quiver is full of them. They will not be put to shame when they contend with their enemies in the gate.

Saturday - Marriage & Family

Kentucky is one of the highest ranking states that deals with drug abuse and alcohol abuse, including meth labs, marijuana, and prescription drug abuse.

Pray for help and healing for children and families who are torn apart through drug and alcohol addiction.

Pray for generational curses of alcohol and drug abuse to be broken off of family lines.

Pray for God to expose the root issues of drug and alcohol addiction, and for supernatural help and healing and deliverance for those that are addicted.

Pray the new legislation of the Pill Mill Bill, making certain cold medicines obtainable only by prescription, will be quickly put into action and used to curtail and stop the production of meth.

Pray for wisdom and discernment for our doctors to only prescribe medicine to those who genuinely need it.

Pray that every line of drug trafficking in our state to be exposed and stopped in its tracks.

Pray for the church body to do their part to reach out to the fatherless and widows, to minister to them and be there for them.

****************************************************************************************************
People in Kentucky as a whole, even Christians, are very apathetic about the root issue of sexual sin, which is the root cause of abortion.  Kentucky has two abortion mills.

Pray for God to awaken His people to repent of sexual sin, fornication and adultery, and seek to be pure and holy.

Pray for God to take the blinders off, so that people will no longer be complacent about the issue of abortion.

Pray that Christians will create a culture of life, instead of death.

Pray that Christians will rise up and fiercely protect the most innocent among us—the unborn babies.

Pray that God’s people will support the local pregnancy centers, who are on the front lines, battling to snatch women and their babies from the snare of the enemy.

Proclaim the Following Scriptures Over Marriages and Families:

PSALM 68:20 God is to us a God of deliverance and salvation; and to God the Lord belongs escape from death [setting us free].

PSALM 82:4 Deliver the poor and needy; rescue them out of the hand of the wicked.

Psalm 103:17 But from everlasting to everlasting the LORD’s love is with those who fear Him, and His righteousness with their children’s children.

PSALM 139:13-16 For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that fully well. My frame was not hidden from you when I was made in the secret place. When I was woven together in the depths of the earth, your eyes saw my unformed body. All the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be.

JAMES 1:27 “Pure and undefiled religion before God and the Father is this, to visit orphans and widows in their trouble, and to keep oneself unspotted from the world.”

Sunday – Ekklesia/Church

Pray for the Church to awaken and shake off complacency, and rise up and influence every facet of society in Kentucky.

As this year’s elections are critical to the nation, pray that there would be an awakening within the Church of Kentucky to pray, vote, and take action regarding key political issues.

Pray for the Church to repent and be cleansed of all sin and unrighteousness, so we can be the Bride that Jesus is returning for, without spot or wrinkle.

Pray that the Church will be carriers of the Glory of God, taking authority and dominion over the earth, under God’s rule.

Pray that the Church will legislate in the heavens, taking the keys of the Kingdom, binding and loosing the things on earth so they will be done in Heaven.

Pray that the Church will pray as never before, and cry out to God, and gain His strategy to know what to do.

Pray for all pastors and ministers within the state, and their families, that they would be protected from the hand of the enemy and would experience an increase of fruit in their ministries.

Pray for more young people to rise up in the state of Kentucky, making themselves available to the Lord to use them how He wants.

Ask God to being reconciliation and healing to those who have been hurt by the Church.

Top State Issues

The following issues were addressed at the 2012 Kentucky General Assembly.

State Budget

Kentucky received $3 billion in federal stimulus funds for financial support, however, that money is now gone. Many state agencies are struggling to do their work because low funds.

Please pray that the state economy of Kentucky will be healed! (1)

Abortion

Although Kentucky is strongly pro-life, it has been eight years since any new pro-life legislation has been passed in Kentucky.  The American Family Association and Right to Life held a rally at the end of the 2012 legislation session in protest of this.  Every new pro-life bill has died in The House of Representatives committee due to ten ultra liberal representatives.  The latest bill that did not get voted on would have required a woman seeking an abortion to be able to meet face to face with the abortion doctor to be able to receive truthful information, and ask questions, JUST AS SHE WOULD FOR AN OTHER MEDICAL PROCEDURE.  This bill passed the Senate, but never made it to the floor in the House to be voted on.

Kentucky law states that a woman must receive state-directed counseling that includes information designed to discourage her from having an abortion,  and then wait 24 hours before the procedure is provided. (2)  But in actual fact, the abortion clinics are getting around this law by having the woman call in and listen to a taped message, in lieu of a face to face meeting with the doctor.  So an 18 year old with no health problems will receive the exact same information as a 45 year old woman with medical issues.

Please pray for Kentuckians to hold these Representatives accountable for their actions, and not allow them to continue to stonewall pro-life legislation.  Pray that God will soften their hearts on this issue, or replace them with pro-life leaders who will use their influence and authority to pass pro-life bills that protect women, as well as the unborn.

Drug Testing

Due to financial constraints, a drug-testing bill died in 2011. The bill called for those on federal aid to be required to take random drug tests. An increased number of child abuse/neglect cases were filed in many impoverished areas, in which many citizens on welfare reside.

Please pray for righteousness to prevail, for child abuse to fall, and for addiction to drugs to be routed out in Jesus’ name! (1)

Gambling

Governor Beshear introduced casino gambling into the state in 2007 and there is much effort to see more gambling styles legalized. There have already been oral arguments in the past regarding the issue, and in the coming months the final ruling will come to pass. As we want to see the citizens of Kentucky steward their money wisely please pray for gambling to come to an end. (1)

David and Kim Laurence

David and Kim Laurence have been praying in Kentucky for almost 24 years. They have a strong desire to teach and equip the Body of Christ to come into the fullness of Christ, and help raise up a mature end-time praying army who know who they are in Christ, who will re-present Jesus and reflect His glory, take dominion and authority over the earth, and legislate in the heavens through reformation intercession.
