The Becket Fund for Religious Freedom is on the front lines of the intensified battle we have recently seen in regards to the free practice of religion in the United States.

Founded in 1994, the organization is widely regarded as the best religious liberty law firm in the United States, maintaining an average win rate of 85% of its cases.

As part of its mission, the non-profit organization says it “exists to vindicate a simple but frequently neglected principle: that because the religious impulse is natural to human beings, religious expression is natural to human culture.”  They defend the rights of people from a myriad of religious backgrounds, working diligently to ensure that people have the right to act on their beliefs.  They not only defend the rights of the people against the government, but also defend the government when it is attacked for being too friendly towards religion.

Of particular importance right now, the Becket Fund is currently representing eight organization in their fight against the federal government’s HHS Mandate, including Hobby Lobby, the largest organization to challenge the mandate so far.  You can follow the progress of all the cases here.

The work this organization is doing is critical to the preservation of our First Amendment rights.  They are in the most influential courts of our nation battling for one of the most fundamental principles on which this nation was founded.  The body of Christ needs to rally behind them and cover them in prayer.  For a list of all the attorneys and other staff involved in this organization, click here.

Prayer Points:

1. Pray for divine wisdom for these attorneys as they prepare and present cases.  (James 1:5)
2. Pray for protection over them and their families.  (Psalm 91)
3. Pray that when they speak before courts, their words would be a demonstration of the Spirit’s power.  (1 Corinthians 2:4)
4. Even as they represent a wide range of religions, pray that their hearts would be open to the transforming power of the one true God.  (John 8:32)
